Description

SOB I wanted to do Halloween art too, even if this piece of art was doodled and slapped together like a month before Halloween ever occurred because I needed something to vent my art frustration on. ;;

In case you don't know, this is Garry from the free RPGmaker horror game known as Ib, which you should go play right now.

SPOILERS FOR IB AHEAD DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED FOREVER FOR IT

One of the things that makes me want to tear out my heart like nothing other is the fact that Garry, the nice and rather quirky guy who your character just happens to meet and help, sacrifices his life for yours in two of the bad endings. But what's even more shocking is that the creepy art gallery that the protagonist is trapped in produces a fake version of Garry to keep her from leaving. There are a lot of theories as to what Fake Garry really is- some say he's a huge doll, some say he's Garry's spirit twisted by the gallery for it's own means, and others say that he's merely a hallucination of the protagonist's mind. But, either way, he's not the nicest guy.

Which is really interesting for me, because Garry isn't the nicest guy on the planet himself, and can be a downright jerk at times if he wants to, so Fake Garry, in my mind, is kind of like his other self, his darker side, the side that will kick a doll into the wall because it can and will punch a little girl in the face and look down on her for not being human.

EVIL SIDES. YOU GOTTA LOVE THEM. Anyways, I just took the rose metaphor one step further and made Fake Garry's coat more thorny because of it, and I should really stop rambling and get to doing the things I should be doing.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN 2012, EVERYBODY~

Yeah, Garry looking down on Mary for not being human was sickening actually, and what is worse is that the PLAYER is forced to leave her too!  In real life i would never have abandoned her like that.  Isn't it easy enough just to take away that pallate knife?  Unfortunately this is an example of the author forcing viewpoints down our throats without letting the player make those judgements.  As beautiful as the game is, it is also flawed in some silly ways that could have been avoided, a rant about which i shall spare you. :p
